The Silent Path

The righteous man is not a pious one,
He does not speak of his virtues- they speak for him.
He dares to glance at the opposition,
they cannot offer him, a proposition.
For he is one and they are many,
a society of two.
Yet he is the rose that cannot be plucked,
rather a thorn in their side.

Bestowed with a calmness befit a King, he is still impatient,
but what is not perceived is his echo, 'I'm patient'.
In solitude he lives, in obscurity; but he does not fear what he cannot see,
for the night still fears him.
It steals his sight; yet he moves on two feet, but stands on one.
The veteran, a man who was born in darkness.
He does not smile; he does not frown;
the expressionless straight line,
the path he has chosen to walk.
